A professional headshot is often your first introduction, before you ever speak. A little preparation helps you look confident, polished, and still like yourself. At Tals Studio in NYC, we help clients feel ready and relaxed before the session.

How to Prepare for Your LinkedIn Headshot

Preparing for a professional LinkedIn headshot doesn’t have to be complicated. The goal is to arrive feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to create a photograph that represents you professionally.

What to Wear for a LinkedIn Headshot professional headshot NYC

Choose clothing that reflects your profession and the image you want to present. Solid colors such as navy, blue, gray, black, white, and other neutral tones usually photograph well. Avoid very busy patterns, large logos, or anything that may distract attention from your face.

If you're unsure what looks best, bring two or three different options. A blazer, dress shirt, blouse, sweater, or professional top gives us choices during your session.

What to Bring to Your Headshot Session

Bring a few wardrobe options, along with any accessories you normally wear professionally, such as eyeglasses or simple jewelry. You may also want to bring a comb or brush and any makeup or grooming products you might need for a quick touch-up.

If you already have a LinkedIn profile, company website, or example of the professional style you're trying to achieve, you can also show it to us. This helps us understand whether you're looking for something more corporate, approachable, creative, or casual.

Come as Yourself

You don't need to know how to pose or practice expressions before arriving. At Tals Studio, we'll guide you through your posture, positioning, facial expressions, and camera angles throughout the session.

A successful LinkedIn headshot should look polished and professional without feeling artificial. The goal is simple: you should still look like you—just photographed at your best.
